Jo Braham (bass) is a second generation barbershopper and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to IN HOUSE quartet. Jo first joined LABBS in 1986 and her very first convention was in 1977. Jo has previously won gold in quartet with The Mix in 2012, Afterhours in 2006 and Crackerjack in 1999.

As well as quartet successes, Jo has achieved numerous medals competing with Cheshire Chord Company as their musical director. After many years of singing with The White Rosettes, Jo took up the exciting position of director in 2011.

Husband Tim Braham used to sing with The Likely LadsQuatro and Qube - he currently sings with BABS chorus Spirit of Harmony along with son - Jamie. JO BRAHAM

jane

By barbershop standards, Jane (tenor) is a late starter joining her first Chorus, Affinity in early 2011. Since then her experiences have come thick and fast. She began singing with Halo Quartet in January 2014 and had 5 happy years singing with them. She moved to Cheshire Chord Company in January 2017, winning a Silver chorus medal with them in 2017 & Gold in 2018. Jane was thrilled to become part of IN HOUSE quartet in February 2019.

Although a major part of her life, she does find time for other things, being a wife to Jason and a mother to George. Jane has enjoyed a varied working life including many years as a qualified dental nurse and then a complete career change to being part of the Cryptography team at Barclays.

Then a big change, moving away from the world of employment to running her own dog walking/boarding business which gives her the flexibility to spend more time at her place in the sun with family and friends.

JANE WADSWORTH

rachel

Rachel Sheldon (baritone) started singing barbershop in 2012 when she stumbled across a Belles of Three Spires rehearsal while looking for an alternative to her University’s Chamber Choir. After the first rehearsal, she was hooked! Rachel moved home to Manchester and joined Cheshire Chord Company in 2015, where she very quickly threw herself into all aspects of chorus life. She is the Assistant Director and baritone section leader. Rachel previously sang and competed with Cosmopolitan Quartet with Jo’s daughter Hannah.

When not singing barbershop, Rachel works in software development, and enjoys running, but over much shorter distances than ultra-marathon runner Julie…

Julie

Julie Phillips (lead) is relatively new to the barbershop world having only joined Cheshire Chord Company through their Learn to Sing course in 2014. This is her first foot into barbershop quartetting but not her first experience of performing on stage. Julie has always enjoyed music, playing the violin since the age of 7 and singing in a number of choirs. Whilst taking her music GCSE, she sang with a band called Simple Folk, performing 50’s, 60’s and 70’s classics along with the occasional violin playing at barn dances!

During her university years Julie sang with a rock/pop band, playing bass guitar and singing backing vocals. Julie was also partial to a bit of mixing of house music on decks.

During the day, Julie is a Primary School Deputy Headteacher. She enjoys leading whole school music each week and can often be found managing school performances. When she’s not singing or working, Julie enjoys running ultra-marathons. Her furthest distance to date is a 52 miler!
